Member Welfare Support

At Gunnamatta our members and patrollers will likely experience or be exposed to a critical incident. When this occurs it is often your training that kicks in when it's required. But often after the event and when the adrenaline has been depleted, you may experience sadness, anger or many other feelings and when this happens we can provide you support to just have a chat and support you. These are completely natural responses and we encourage you to make contact.

We are fortunate to have Ryan to provide dedicated welfare support for anyone involved in a critical incident on the beach.

Ryan brings a wealth of experience to this role, with a background in community wellbeing and a degree in community welfare. He is currently a mental health recovery worker, supporting and empowering individuals who have faced significant mental health challenges. His role at the club will be to provide another friendly face for our members, ensuring that anyone who needs support after a critical incident can reach out and feel looked after.

What Ryan Can Offer

In addition to support that is provided by Life Saving Victoria (LSV), Ryan will be available to help navigate any welfare needs following a critical incident on patrol. He will work with you to understand the appropriate support services required, ensuring that you're cared for every step of the way.

How to Reach Out

If you have any questions or need support during the season, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Ryan via email. He is here to help!
